Curfew on Butwal

Kathmandu, 27 March: Coalition partner of Maoists—CPN-UML—decided Friday to launch nationwide protests against the party leading the government.
The central committee meeting of CPN-UML was also suspended l following the murder of overnight of its activist by Maoists.
Maoists rejected a CPN-UML claim of murder by the Unified CPN (Maoist).
A curfew was slapped on Butwal and highways to control protests following the murder by shooting.

Prof Surya Subedi appointed

Kathmandu, 27 March: Prof. Surya Subedi has been appointed UN Special Rapporteur for human rights in Cambodia.
The UN Human Rights Council made the appointment unanimously.
