Maoists determined to sack Gen Katawal

Kathmandu, 27 April: Maoists expressed determination Monday to saxh Army Chief Gen Rukmangud Katawal s a political crisis worsens.
Prime Minister Prachanda told a public meeting in Sindhuli the crisis will be resolved Tuesday..
Main coalition partner of Maoists suggested the sacking of Defence Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa badal, Katawal and his likely successor Lt Gen Kul Bahadur Thapa to resolve he dispute.
CPN-UML and Maoists held discussions on the future of Gen Katawal.
CPN-UML decided Sunday after protracted discussions a decision on the future of Katawal should be decided by consensus between main opposition Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Maoists.
Seventeen parties, including Congress, called for a consensus on the issue.
Congress s wil continue to disrupt parliamentary proceedings.

Three shot, injured in Birgunj

Kathmandu, 27 April: Three persons were shot and injured in Birgunj in continuing violence in terai Monday.
Two business owners of terai origin and a security guard were injured.
Assassins decamped on a motorcycle.

A night curfew was declared in Rautahat to facilitate the movement of vehicles amid shortage of essential goods mainly in urban centers.

No danger of swine flu in Nepal.


Kathmandu, 27 April: Health officials said there’s no danger of an outbreak of swine flu in Nepal immediately but an internal alert has been issued.Notices have been sent to be on alert, health officials said.
