Three killed, two seriously injured in abandoned bomb blast

Kathmandu, 28 Dec.: Three persons were killed and two others were seriously injured in an abandoned bomb blast at a garden of Janukumari Rai at Bhandara in Chitwan Monday morning.
Rai, 45, and her daughter were among those killed.

Doctors to call off strike

Kathmandu, 28 Dec.: Striking doctors have opted to call off their strike Tuesday welcoming a government decision Monday to form a task force to consider their demands.
An informal cabinet meet Monday formed three-member ministerial task force headed by Health Minister Umakant Chaudhary with the health secretary as member secretary.
The committee will consider perks and privileges for doctors while ensuring security at work.
Doctors will enter government service as 9th grade government employees.

India objects disrespect for national flag

Kathmandu, 28 Dec.: India has taken seriously the disrespect to the Indian flag at a function attended by Maoist Chairman Prachanda, Nepal Samacharpatra reports.
Disrespect was shown at a programme in Basantapur where an autonomous Newa state was declared.
A video of the event has reached New Delhi which has asked for details from Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood.
In the programme, a Maoist combatant in battle gear pulls out a flag planted on encroached Nepali soil and hurls sit to the ground.
Sources close to Prachanda said the chairman regrets the incident and is telling persons the incident was a plot against him.
In meeting with senior leaders of political parties, he has been saying there’s a conspiracy to spoil his relations especially with India and ties foreign ties.
Even I don’t know why the Indian flag was brought on the stage but when it was suddenly thrown. I was surprised,” he has been reportedly telling senior leaders.
Chairman Prachanda discussed the matter with Sood Sunday.
He said he didn’t have prior knowledge and said the event happened suddenly at a cultural programme.
RAW chief in Nepal and other Indian officials took up the issue with Prachanda earlier.

Indian army chief coming

Kathmandu, 28 Dec.: Indian Army Chief Dipal Kaapoor arrives for a four-day visit 1 February, Janabhawana reports.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav will confer on hin the title of honourary general of Nepal Army.
It’s learnt Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is arriving immediately after Gen Kapoor.
Indian military hardware has begun filtering into Nepal after the just concluded India visit of Army Chief Gen. Chatraman Singh Gurung.
