11 policemen sentenced

Kathmandu, 21 April: Special police court Tuesday sentenced 11 policemen to five-year prison terms for holding hostage senior officers in two barracks two years ago.
The senior officers were held hostage in Banke and Parbat.

Indian Ambassador Sood in New Delhi for political consultations

Kathmandu, 21 April: Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood left for New Delhi Tuesday for political consultations as a political crisis looms.
He held consultations with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala before flying to the Indian capital.
Nepal will be engulfed in a political crisis if a constitution isn’t promulgated by the 28 May deadline when the two-year tenure of the constituent assembly (CA) ends.
The constitution has to be promulgated to institutionalize a republic.

2000 European tourists stranded

Kathmandu, 21 April: Nearly 2,000 European tourists waiting to return home have been stranded in Nepal after the Icelandic volcano eruption, Nepal Samacharpatra reports.
Nepal is losing 400 European tourists every day with cancellation of flights.
